A slab leak is a type of water leak that occurs in the plumbing underneath your home. Slab leaks are not always easy to detect, and when left untreated, they can lead to significant damage to your home. There are a few different signs that you may have a slab leak.

Signs of Slab Leak

The first sign is an increase in your water bill, which could be caused by an increase in usage or an increased cost for the amount of water that you’re using.
The second sign is a wet spot on your floor or carpeting, which may also be accompanied by an unpleasant odor.
A third sign of a slab leak is the appearance of mold or mildew on walls near where you suspect the leak to be occurring.
A fourth sign of a slab leak is the sound of water dripping on a hard surface.

Signs of Slab Leak

The pipe leading to the slab leak could have been damaged by outside objects, such as a tree, water main break or a driving car.
The pipe from the side of the house to the yard could have been damaged by external factors, such as hydrostatic pressure from rain or melting snow.
A leaking exterior pipe could cause this problem and so it is recommended that you check the exterior pipes before initiating any repair.
The pipe leading to the slab leak could have broken due to a number of reasons, such as an issue with the water main, a car driving over it or some other external factor that caused the water main break.
In some cases, a tube within the pipe is damaged and must be replaced in order for it to function properly again.
